Every Wednesday, high schools offer at least 35 minutes for registration/community building/SEL. Secondary and secondary schools have more flexibility in classroom holding, but with much more structure than in the spring. The school day would be divided into three or four hours of classes, which students would alternately participate in an A/B schedule alternated on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Teachers should organize at least two live online courses during the week for each teaching period and, in addition, assign small groups or independent work. Seattle Public Schools and Seattle Education Association agreed on Friday, August 28 on the 2020/21 school year. Together, we have developed a plan to prioritize academic success and student well-being in these uncertain times. Details of the deal reached after two months of negotiations are not immediately available, the Seattle Times reported. The interim agreement is expected to be revoked Friday night by the Seattle Education Association`s representatives. It must then be approved by a vote of the school committee. „Teams are checking the data to determine if the student needs personal services to make significant progress in their IEP objectives and to determine how human services can be delivered safely and in accordance with health guidelines,“ the agreement states.
Many families of specialized educators have complained about the scarcity – if not the lack of services – for their children in the spring. This fall, the district pledged to take personal care of specialized educators if their needs could not be met remotely. However, the agreement stipulates that the borough must first complete a long list of health and safety devices before requiring staff to come face to face with the students. The union is due to vote on the contract on Friday and details have not been publicly disclosed, but a project gathered by KUOW sets more concrete expectations in terms of staff and students than in the chaotic mode of crisis of the spring, when the pandemic was new. The agreement would also allow schools and staff to be more flexible than the borough had previously proposed. School needs: As in previous years, schools will provide students with the school materials needed for online learning at home. The buildings will establish a distribution plan and communicate directly with families and students. SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle Public Schools and its teachers` union, the Seattle Education Association, have secured an interim agreement on work forecasts for this school year that begins on September 4. Course schedules include a combination of live classes for the entire class, small groups and independent student work, such as tasks or viewing pre-recorded videos. In a break from the traditional fall routine, the first 10 days of the school year would be considered a „strong start“ focused on connecting with families to ensure they have the technological access they need to learn online. Instead of starting academic teaching, teachers would perform two hours a day of „complementary learning activities“ focused on student well-being and social/emotional learning. Common Platforms: Age-appropriate learning management systems for online learning and training for families, students and staff.
Specialized education: The teaching for people, defined by the IEP team, will be provided with appropriate health and safety guidelines and EPI.
