Tanzania is divided into seven provinces because of the size of the country and the number of people in the church. The „Church of Moravia in Tanzania“ coordinates work in the nation. As the University of Prague was also firmly in the hands of Protestants, the local Catholic Church was unable to compete in the field of education. This is why the Jesuits, with the support of the Catholic lords of the Habsburgs, were invited to come to the Bohemian Crown and to create a number of Catholic educational institutions. One of them is the University of Olomouc, the capital of Moravia. In 1582, they forced the closure of local Protestant schools. The Hussite movement, which would become the Church of Moravia, was launched in the early 15th century by Jan Hus (in English: John Huss) in Bohemia, in the present-day Czech Republic. Hus contradicted certain practices and doctrines of the Catholic Church; In particular, he wanted the liturgy to be celebrated in Czech, for the laity to receive the community in both genres (bread and wine – that is, in Latin, communio sub utraque specie), married priests and the elimination of inconsistencies and the idea of purgatory. As these actions preceded the Protestant Reformation by a century, some historians claim that the Church of Moravia was the first Protestant church.
Some Moravian scholars refer to a formula other than a guide to a constructive debate on faith. This formula was first put forward by Luke of Prague (1460-1528), one of the bishops of the former Unitas Fratrum. Luke taught that it was necessary to distinguish between things essential to salvation, ministerial or incidental. The essential is God`s work of creation, redeeming and sanctifying, as well as the response of the believer through faith, hope and love. Official objects are like the Bible, the Church, the sacraments, teaching and the priesthood. They transmit the sacred and must therefore be treated with respect, but they are not considered essential. Finally, incidental charges include things like clothing or service names that can vary reasonably from place to place.17 Those who seem to best correspond to each other can live without hesitation in the habit of intimacy, join in prayer and act in all respects, as required by intimate friendship; But such a preference for an individual must in no way serve the prejudice of cordial and fraternal love for all others; and there will be the duty of those who know themselves in particular to give each other a hand of mutual aid when it comes to teaching, exhortation, retaliation, instruction, yes, of all their spiritual course. The beginning of the distant missions required the creation of independently administered provinces. Thus, from about 1732, the history of the Church became the history of its provinces.
One aspect of the history and mission of Moravia is the so-called „diaspora“ work in Germany and Eastern Europe, which aims to deepen and promote Christian life among members of the territorial churches, especially in Poland and the Baltic States, but also throughout the German-speaking region. Count Zinzendorf`s ideal was a community of all Christians, regardless of denominational names, and the Moravian brothers in the diaspora did not seek to convert men to the Church of Moravia, but to awaken the hearts of the faithful and make them better members of the Churches of which they were already members. First, the object of suspicion, over time, workers of the Diaspora of Moravia have become esteemed employees in Eastern Europe. This diaspora work suffered almost total destruction during the Second World War, but still continues in the Territorial Churches of Germany.
